Online Texas State Intensive English (OTSIE)

Texas State’s Intensive English Program is now offering an Online TSIE program, which is a more affordable and convenient way to achieve your English language goals. Whether you are applying for an academic program here at TXST or elsewhere, this program is a good fit for you. The program is designed to help students prepare to take English proficiency exams, such as TOEFL and IELTS, but also to be successful in a college classroom.

Overview

Students who take this program and successfully pass our top level are not required to take further English proficiency exams (TOEFL, IELTS, etc.) to enroll at Texas State University, as completion of this program counts as your English proficiency. An average score of 80% or higher is required for those entering into undergraduate studies, while an average score of 90% or higher is required for those entering into graduate studies. Upon receiving admission into the program, you will be given a placement exam to see what level you should start your coursework in.

The OTSIE students study reading, writing, speaking, and listening, as well as grammar. All courses are taught live for engaging instruction with peers and the instructor.
