Who can apply to the TSIE?
Anyone can apply to TSIE. However, the TSIE program does not currently grant I-20s to enroll. If you need a F1 visa to enroll, you do not need to apply. If you are not sure if you can take TSIE, please contact tsie@txstate.edu for more information.

What is the application procedure?
Complete the online application here and select “ESL” as the “Student Type”.

How many courses will I need to take?
It depends on the level you are placed in. You will need to take a placement test before your TSIE courses.

Where can I take the TSIE?
All classes will be in-person on San Marcos campus.

What textbooks do you use?
We use National Geographic Learning Materials. However, you do not need to purchase the textbook, your instructor will share material with you.

When is the application deadline?

When can I take the TSIE?
TSIE course will have two terms every fall or spring semester, and one term every summer, you can join TSIE at the beginning of any term.

What does the TSIE tuition include?
- 20 hours of instruction per week.
- One-on-one tutoring and workshops at the Student Center
- New student orientation
- Access to most University facilities
- TXST access account

- Housing
